Clients need to, your team needs you, and your family needs you. In order to still get things done without burning out, you need to become a pro at setting boundaries with insurance clients and team members.Β

Oftentimes, we think that as owners, we have to be a part of every aspect of the business, and have our hands in everything. We might even think if we want something done right, we have to do it ourselves. This might surprise you, but these are practices that might actually be holding you back. You need to be empowering your team to get stronger, so you can set boundaries, and say βno.β Hereβs how you can become an expert at setting boundaries with insurance clients and team members:
Remember that saying βyesβ is saying βnoβ
When you say βyesβ to one thing, youβre actually saying βnoβ to something else. Hereβs what we mean by that: if you say yes to coming to a first interview for a potential hire, youβre saying no to answering your emails and working on your business plan. As weβve mentioned before, your time as an owner is very valuable, and you need to be selective with where you use it.
Donβt be available 24/7
In order to set boundaries with clients and team members, you need to not only get comfortable saying βno,β but identifying if something is even necessary. If youβre asked to come to a meeting, first think if your presence is truly required, make sure the meeting has a purpose, determine if you could simply be sent notes after the fact. You donβt need to be available for everything 24/7. You can also practice time blocking, and set aside time to work on leadership tasks you need to get done.
Know that itβs ongoing
Setting boundaries with clients and team members is never perfect, and just keep in mind itβs really an ongoing practice. Situations in agencies change constantly, and setting boundaries takes continuous work. But with ongoing practice, it can get much better.
