What Ticks Off Your Insurance Manager -Insurance Agency Gossip (Post Meeting Meeting!)

Posted on August 19, 2021 by Alex Arellano

Insurance Agency Gossip

We’re up to our last part in our series on what ticks off your insurance agency owners and managers, and this one gets us all the time. We call it the post meeting meeting, and it’s the gossip session that happens a lot of the time when agencies are dealing with change.

”When you choose positivity, it’s amazing what can happen. And you can also be the beacon that some other people navigate towards and away from that negativity.”

Picture this: you’re doing something like updating a sales process, or installing time management strategies, and everyone is nodding their head and smiling during the meeting. But after the owner leaves, everyone gets together and starts with the insurance agency gossip. We immediately start judging, and when employees do this in a group in the form of a “post meeting meeting,” it can do a lot of damage. Here’s what you can do instead of taking part in insurance agency gossip:

Speak up and give it a shot

When everyone else is participating in the post meeting meeting, you can be the one to speak up and say “Hey, I’m actually going to give it a shot.” If everyone is commiserating together, you can ask yourself if you really want to be a part of this, or if you want to choose positivity. When you choose positivity, amazing things can happen.

Be the one to lead others

When you speak up and choose to accept new changes, something else happens: you can be the beacon that helps others navigate away from the negativity as well. But it’s your responsibility to choose this path, to help guide yourself and others towards progress.

If you choose to give in to insurance agency gossip and the post meeting meeting, you’re always going to be circling the drain of negativity. That post meeting meeting is always going to happen, but you get to choose if you want to help your day or hurt it. You can decide positivity, and see how much of a difference it makes.
