Social Media Made Easy For Your Insurance Agency’s Marketing

Posted on January 26, 2018 by Kelly Donahue Piro

I know what you’re thinking…”Daniela I sell insurance policies, I know nothing about graphic design or creating images for my insurance agency’s marketing”.

Well I am here to tell you that you, YES you can create some pretty awesome, professionally looking images for your insurance agency’s marketing.

If we rewind the clock to about a year and a half ago…

Kelly approached me and ask if I was comfortable with creating images for our social media channels and email marketing. I have zero experience with creating graphics or coming up with images, so I was hesitant. Afterall, my sister is the graphic designer in the family. I have always turned to her when I need something crafted. But nonetheless, I told Kelly I would take on the task, but she had to be brutally honest with me if she hated something or it plain just didn’t look good.

WELL, I learned very quickly that creating these images was not as bad as I thought it would be; I actually enjoyed sitting at my desk and playing around with patterns, colors, image positioning, etc. (Who knew!).

Here’s the great thing about the internet in 2018, there are so many FREE resources available to all of us. There are great tools/websites and videos to help us walk through a process that we aren’t familiar or comfortable with. I am going to tell you all about one of these great tools that will turn your social media images into professional, fun, and branded tools to use in your marketing and it’s called Canva.

Canva is a way to produce consistent and engaging content for social media marketing campaigns. It is user friendly, provides templates for letterheads, presentations, templates for posts on each social media channel, email header templates, logo templates, gift certificates, images to use in your posts (free and for purchase), and much more. All of these templates are pre-sized but you are able to adjust them if you choose to do so. You can upload images, your own custom templates, and all elements of your brand such as  your logo, colors and fonts.

If your insurance agency does not currently have a brand or “image”, not to worry, we can help with that! Our sister company Agency Appeal works specifically with insurance agency’s to help them build their brands. Agency Appeal is not your typical insurance agency marketing solution. It is a boutique branding and identity firm that was founded on a simple principle: “Do it right or don’t do it at all”.

So how is this important to your insurance agency and why will this help your marketing strategy?

  1. You want a consistent presence on social media. You want your images to be consistent to your brand and message. You want your audience to see an image and automatically recognize it as your insurance agency without having to look at the name.
  2. Once all your templates are created (blog posts, social media posts, email header, etc) all you need to do is make a copy of the template and use it every time for that specific marketing campaign.
  3. You can create folders and store all images created for each month or event. This keeps them organized and easy to find when it is time to download them for posting purposes.

Daniela Marketing Hack

I like to create images for an entire month. For example, once I complete my March marketing calendar I will set aside an hour or two to create all images that will be used for social media the upcoming month. This way you are not scrambling everyday trying to create images, post on social media, create email templates, and then accomplish all your other tasks that are necessary for your prospects and clients.
