Insurance Agency Job Posting

Today we want to talk about creating the perfect insurance agency job posting, and we feel that many insurance agencies have the right idea, but might not be executing job ads in the best way. We often see agencies who put too much in the job ad and job description, and we think that these ads should actually be approached a bit like online dating. Here’s how:

“Remember, it’s just a first interaction, it’s not the same thing as when you’ve gone through the second or third interview.”

1. Don’t make people jump through hoops

We know that it’s common to include a little effort for candidates in job ads, but this might not be the best approach. Some agencies will ask applicants to answer a clue, or send a video, for example. We understand this methodology, but again, if we think of this as a first date, we might approach things differently. If you needed to accomplish all of these little tasks before even getting on the first date, you might be pretty turned off in the first place. Instead, you can focus on making your agency attractive to the right candidates.

2. Make your agency attractive

In order to make your agency attractive and compelling, you should include things that would hook candidates. What makes your agency fun, what incentives do you have? Do you do any special trips or training sessions? Even small things, such as always having a front desk person, might be a big pull for someone who is used to an agency that’s short-staffed.

3. Look to hook

You should think of your insurance agency job posting as an opportunity to hook the right candidates. And yes, we think you should include salary, bonuses, and benefits information, especially if it’s competitive. While this might be a double-edged sword, it might be the one thing that sways a great candidate in your favor. You’re putting bait in the water, and you want to be able to hook the right candidates.

The bottom line is that insurance agency job postings are an opportunity for you to stand out, instead of being just another boring insurance agency job ad. Go ahead and make it a big deal, and remember that at this stage, you’re looking to advertise to the right people, instead of putting candidates to the test.
