How to Get Top Talent to Join Your Team: Forever Recruiting

Top talent is out there, and in order to find it, you need to forever be recruiting for your insurance agency. That’s the focus of this week’s videos, as well as our awesome new course, which is called “How To Hire And Keep Top Talent In Your Agency.”

We created this course and this week’s series of videos because we hear way too often how hard it is to hire. At the same time, we also see that not everybody is following the best process for hiring. If it’s hard to hire, that just means you need to get better at hiring. 

 

Today’s topic is all about the idea of forever recruiting. This means that even if there isn’t a job opening, you still want to be having conversations with the best talent. All too often what we see is that someone leaves, or goes on disability, or retires without much notice, and then agencies are left scrambling to find someone in a week or two. That’s when you hire out of desperation, not preparation.

 

Forever recruiting at your insurance agency means that you always have job postings out, and that it’s someone’s role to be nurturing candidates. That person should be going to carrier events, meeting new people, and letting everybody know you have opportunities at your agency. 

 

The humans on your team are the agency’s biggest investment and expense all at the same time, so in order to grow and hit your goals, you need to have the best team on your roster. You should have a “bench” with all-star players. Just because there’s no space on the team right now, doesn’t mean that those relationships don’t come in handy.

 

If your agency is in growth mode, you need to designate someone on the leadership team to be in a forever recruiting mode. This means they’ll be having phone calls, zoom meetings, and going for cups of coffee to build those relationships. Because ultimately, that’s what’s going to get you the best talent.
