Is Your LinkedIn Game Up To Speed?

Posted on July 11, 2017 by Kelly Donahue Piro

LinkedIn, the business Facebook. While there are far fewer funny doggy gifs on LinkedIn, it is still a powerful tool for any professional. What we often find is that most agents are using it at a 5 out of 10 level. You may know how to login, briefly look at the news feed and accept and find connections. Other than that you may be wondering… what is all the fuss about?  Let me tell you the few reasons I adore LinkedIn:

  • It can tell my story to prospects and leads without me bragging
  • I can tell who’s creeping on me and maybe in buying mode
  • I can search to find leads
  • If I’m doing it right, I can connect with other like minded people and be involved in a 24/7 networking party

Most agencies fail at LinkedIn because they fail to have a strategy. LinkedIn is not connected to any plan, process or events. It’s simply something that you use when you have to. We need to change that and change the thinking to use the features in LinkedIn to enhance your activities. Please note: LinkedIn cannot be the activity, it’s an accelerator.  It won’t start the fire but it will keep it going. LinkedIn enhances your already existing marketing.  Here is how we approach LinkedIn at APP:

  • Your profile needs to be super bad a$$, it all starts with a great profile which includes
    • Good looking, professional yet edgy head shot
    • Overview that is written like a cocktail party introduction
    • Contact information clearly and accurately displayed
    • Samples of media (videos, infographics etc.) that we have worked on
    • Professional work experience that reads like a resume
  • We look at who’s looking at us every single week.  Anyone new, we research and put in our CRM tool
  • Every week we must add to our CRM 20 new contacts from LinkedIn for Nurturing (We use Sales Navigator in LinkedIn for this)
  • We post daily
  • We comment daily*** posting is not enough, you need to interact
  • After we speak, we ask for recommendations
  • When we get a great client comment, we ask them for a LinkedIn recommendation
  • We search on new leads to make sure we see who we may know in common to help build credibility
  • Every business card that is ever collected will be connected with on LinkedIn
  • At events we post and tag on LinkedIn images

The nice thing is I can do all of this with my phone!  You can check out my LinkedIn profile here: https://www.linkedin.com/in/kellydonahuepiro/
