Insurance Agency Communication

Insurance Agency Communication

When we look at the top three challenges in insurance agencies, we see that there are always problems with insurance agency communication. A lot of the time the owner might have other roles and jobs which can make things tough, and there may not be a good format for communication in place. When there’s no routine for insurance agency communication, it can become a problem.

“When we really look at one of the top three challenges in every agency, it’s communication. And a lot of times the owner might have other roles and jobs and that’s tough, and we don’t have a format for communication. We don’t have a routine for communication, so that becomes a problem.”

In our new course Plan & Execute: Building Your Agency’s Success Roadmap we’ve built in a communication strategy, which includes everything from talking techniques to an issue tracker. But here are some tips on insurance agency communication to get you started:

Hold daily meetings

We believe all agencies should hold daily “good things” meetings. That’s where everyone goes around (including the remote people) and shares positive things from the previous day. Starting the day off on a positive note can go a long way. Plus, you can make sure everyone is in on time, and update the team if anything is pressing.

Hold biweekly department meetings

Next, you should be holding biweekly department meetings. Every two weeks the entire department gets together for an agenda-focused meeting to talk about metrics and the numbers. You should not be winging this, and instead, it should be structured. We have a whole agenda format for this in our course that you can use.

Hold monthly all-hands meetings

Next, there should be an “all hands on deck meeting” every month, which means everyone in the company should be in attendance. This is the leader’s opportunity to communicate where the company is, where they’re going, and what’s next.

Consider quarterly off-site training

Once a quarter, we recommend holding off-site training days, where the focus is on getting better. This is the time to learn about something new, and to take the opportunity to do a deep dive into  a part of the business. We also think there should be a quarterly check-in with leadership, to talk about KPIs and to see what’s working, and what’s not.

If you’re struggling with end-of-year planning, make sure you’re taking a look at insurance agency communication. And don’t forget, you don’t have to figure these things out on your own, because we’ve got your back.
