How to Show Gratitude to Your Team: Sincere Proactive Compliments

It’s a new week, which means a brand new series of videos, and all this week we’re talking about how to show your team gratitude. When your team works hard, there’s one thing you can do that can really make a difference: giving your insurance agency team the sincere proactive compliment. 

Giving your insurance agency team a sincere proactive compliment is an act of giving (just in time for Thanksgiving), but it’s truly good for everyone involved. 

 

Whether it’s your coworker or your manager, producer or account manager, gratitude can go a long way. Here’s why you should try giving your insurance agency team the sincere proactive compliment:

 

  • There is power in recognition: Your people work hard, and when you’re a leader, you might be seen as a “battle-ax” that is working to get things done. But when you stop to really express a compliment and see how it’s received, you’ll notice your team really is grateful. We’ve also found that the number one thing that motivates account managers is recognition. So when you give compliments, you’re actually motivating your team.
  • You can make it a consistent practice: Consistently giving your insurance agency team sincere proactive compliments means you make a regular practice of doing it. By giving compliments to your team regularly (say, every day), your compliments become intentional, genuine, and powerful.
  • Everyone wants to feel seen: Whether people like the spotlight or they’re a bit shy, everyone wants to be seen and recognized for their hard work. Find ways to compliment your people that they appreciate so that they know someone’s watching.

 

At the end of the day, giving genuine proactive compliments is a powerful tool for motivating your team, and simply making them feel good for all of their hard work. And while it’s nice to do that this time of year, you can continue this practice as a leader any time of year.
