How Laven Insurance Changed Their Agency with Our Online School

We have all heard that old saying. “If it’s not broken, don’t fix it.” But we wonder if “not broken” is enough? We don’t think so—actually, we think that’s the perfect time to change your agency.

In this episode of the Ridiculously Amazing Insurance, we spoke to Linda and Brian Bernth from Laven Insurance about how enrolling in our online school changed their agency. They’ve been in business since 1920, opened by Linda’s grandfather and so it’s not wrong to say they know what they are doing.

It’s your classic small-town agency that’s been around for a long time and is very good in their lane. But what does this agency do when they want to do better?

“You can go to all the conferences you want, but you’ll have a heck of a time implementing anything that lasts. That’s how they felt—well, until the found us.”

Online School

Since the pandemic came about, we have had to get creative about how we help our clients learn how to be better agents. Usually, we went to you to do that, but #COVID made that basically impossible, unless it was digitally. So, we switched things up.

Linda and Brian had been hearing from their team that they needed more. This industry has a habit of ignoring the vary people it leans on and they had no producers, which left them with a question.

How do we giveback to our team who is 100% service-based?

And the answer happened to be APP.

Changes

With a team that ranges aggressively in experience, they started everyone off slowly. Their team had all seen and shared some of APP’s videos and knew what we were about.

When they started our school, they were “not broken”, but they definitely had room to improve—who doesn’t?

The biggest changes they saw include:

  • Their account manager’s outsold the producers
  • They felt empowered to make the leap and get rid of all of their producers
  • They had their best year ever

And they don’t even have to be there.

What Does That Mean?

Things are going so well that any member of their team, including them, can leave and it’s, as they put it, “no big deal.” Wow, right?

Can you imagine going on vacation, a long one, and not getting a single phonecall?

Probably not.

Most business owners do not have that luxury. But is it really a luxury? That brings us back to our original question. Is “not broken” actually good enough?

We don’t think so. And we are pretty confident that you don’t either. So, listen along and find out how you can change your agency like Laven Insurance did and learn how to be so much better than “not broken.”
