Calling All Insurance Agents: How to Make People Buy Insurance From You

You’re an insurance agent—great news, EVERYONE has to buy your product. Most salespeople have to find their prospects. You can go to the grocery store and prospect. What typically happens is most agents get blinders to this very fact. Instead of stepping out there and saying, “I sell insurance please buy from me”, we wait until people ask what we do. Even then, we fail at compelling people to get a quote.

This is the exact reason you need a well-orchestrated personal brand. This means a few details you are going to have to get used to:

  • You work non stop; wherever you are, leads are around you
  • You must embrace social media; the more connections you have, the more leads through your network
  • You must tell people you are an agent and you would like their business (don’t doubt this one, it’s important to let people know you want to be their agent)
  • You must know why someone should buy from you directly (other than great service and cheap prices)
  • You must be able to articulate this clearly and efficiently
  • You must know how you want to be perceived
