Time Management Tip #4: Break Up With Duplicate Work

We’re doing a deep dive into time management tips as we relaunch our time management course, and today’s tip is one of our favorites: breaking up with duplicate entries. While this may seem pretty elementary or obvious, we still see a ton of agencies wasting time with duplicate entries.

It’s just gonna end up slowing you down, and time is the name of the game, and we wanna work on time management.”

Whether it’s notepads, quote sheets, or reluctance to use a rater, duplicate entries waste time, and we want to kick these habits to the curb. Instead, we should be putting everything directly into the management system.

If you’re using notepads at your desk at all, you’re obviously doing a duplicate entry. We get that using a notepad can feel helpful, or even a whiteboard at our desk. While whiteboards can be fun, or digital notepads might seem cool, the work is going to be redundant, and we need to make the transition into direct entry.

This is one of our favorite time management tips because even writing down something small takes time, because then you have to transfer it into the system. If you’re writing down a ton of information on quote sheets and you need to transfer it, that’s a lot of work to re-do. Instead, you can use a fillable PDF, where you can cut and paste the answers directly into your management system.

Another area where we see this is with raters. Some people are reluctant to use raters for one reason or another, but think of it like this: with raters, you get rid of duplicate entry, and just need to clean things up a little.

At the end of the day, we want to take whatever steps possible to break up with duplicate entry for good.
