Plan & Execute Your Insurance Agency Success Roadmap: Accountability on Executing Your Goals

We’re kicking off another exciting week of three minute videos, and this today we’re talking all about insurance agency accountability charts, and how they can help transform your organization.

“Task is not an outcome. And an accountability chart changes it from who do you report to, to not only who are you responsible for, but what is the outcome of your role.”

As you might have seen, we’re excited about the launch of our new course, which is Plan & Execute: How to Build Your Agency Success Roadmap. So hopefully, many of you are now creating a great end-of-year game plan for your agency, and one of the things that should be on there is your organizational structure.

Here’s what you need to know about organizational structure at your agency, and using an insurance agency accountability chart to help your agency excel this year:

It’s out with the old

The “old school” way of doing things was with an org chart. This shows who reports to who, and despite how simple it is, so many agencies today don’t even have this very basic tool. Org charts help everyone see who is accountable to who, and when an agency is lacking them, basic accountability can be a struggle.

Accountability charts add more detail

We’ve been reading a book called “Traction” which talks about the concept of an accountability chart. An insurance agency accountability chart shows each role, along with five to seven things that someone is 100% accountable for and in charge of. So it might show what the president is in charge of, what the personal lines department head is in charge of, and so on. And under that, it shows accountability when it comes to metrics and projects.

It’s not about tasks

One of the things we love about accountability charts is that they’re not about tasks, they’re about outcomes. An insurance agency accountability chart does not only outline who you are responsible for, but what the outcome of your role is. This is helpful because if something goes down, we know who to go to and can work with them to get things back on track.

If your agency is struggling with planning and executing, a great place to start is with an insurance agency accountability chart, and of course, our new course on building an agency success road map.
