How To Create a Recipe For Great Insurance Content

Posted on November 20, 2017 by Kelly Donahue Piro

Do you want to create great insurance content? Then this blog is for you!

You may have heard of this word over and over again at marketing events or webinars – “content”.

Did you cringe??

If you are like most busy professionals trying to run a business or department, the last thing on your list is to create content to publish on your website or social media.

I have some good news…

It doesn’t have to be as complicated as you think when it comes to the creation of content for your audience. I have created the PERFECT recipe for you and your team to eliminate any stressors and get your awesome content out there to your fans!

But before we dive in…let’s answer the biggest question you may have…

WHY do you need to create content for your insurance agency?

We create content to inform, educate, and entertain our audience. We want to grow a relationship with them and bring value to them. We want others who may not know who we are to get to know us on a more personal level.

There are four questions you should ask yourself before creating any content:

  1. What type of information do people expect from our company?
  2. What will the core topic of our content be about?
  3. Is the core topic of our content relevant to our industry and what our audience is interested in?
  4. What is the best way to communicate/present this content?

Once you have answered these questions you can move on to the next steps

1. Identify who you are going to target in this piece of content.

2. Create structure to your content. What will your content include?

  • Outlines
  • Downloadable PDF
  • Blog post
  • Graphics/Visuals
  • Video
  • Hyperlinks

3. Does your content offer quality information to your insurance customers or prospects?

  • Original, concise, relevant, and accurate

4. Develop a game plan as to how you will display your content on each social media channel

  • LinkedIn Articles
  • Facebook Live
  • Podcast
  • YouTube Video
  • Social Media Image
  • Long Thread Post

5. Can this blog be re-purposed or used for other blog posts?

6. Can the core topic of this post be used for sub-topics in other content posts throughout the month?

7. Can you use important quotes from your piece of content to create social media posts with links back to your original post?

And last but not least…

Create and share your awesome content!

I hope this helps your team’s brainstorming meetings on content to create for the month(Yes, month. You should be releasing content at least 1x a week).

Here is my motto: Create a core topic and go through the necessary steps outlined above with the goal of having sub-topic content to create for the rest of the month. It’s truly that simple. Once you have a library of quality content – re-purpose! Use older content, give it a little face lift, add new images, change up a few outdated terms or ideas, and you have yourself something new to showcase to your audience.

Until next time,

Have fun creating friends!
